Community Development Programmes
are organized by SVG in partnership with local institutions, placing volunteers
in spaces in need of assistance.
The aim of these programmes is to promote socio-cultural exchange, to challenge culturally inherited behaviours and attitudes, to strengthen the beneficiary institutions and staff through the provision of skilled aid, and to serve as an additional tool for self development.
Targeted fields: Education (primary and secondary, technical and vocational schools, charity homes and libraries), Health (HIV/ aids, its prevention, care& support, the strengthening of local hospitals/ clinics) and Environmental projects.
As
a teacher in one of our local schools, you could be teaching some of the
following subjects: English, French, Math, Science, economics, fine arts,
accounting, business management, technical drawing, woodwork, computer
studies etc.
As
a health professional, you can share your expertise, treating patients,
training local staff, and improving the service to the population. Hospitals
benefit greatly from the work of teams of volunteer doctors/nurses, specialists
in the above mentioned areas and others.
Our
Community Libraries Programmes demands volunteers who can be in charge
of these educational institutions, encourage their use and promote their
development. This programme is aimed at supplementing the efforts of volunteers
placed as teachers and in foster homes.
