SVG AND THE MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS 2 AND 6

Education Volunteer

Welcome to SVG´s Volunteering Experience. In the following pages you will find information regarding our organization      and its programmes in Africa; an opportunity that wants to become a meeting point for those willing to participate as volunteers, institutions that are part of developing processes and the communities which are part of these programmes.

Our programmes take place in Ghana, a country that faces numerous challenges to its development: lack of or inadequate drinking water and sanitation, poor communications, insufficient educational resources (material and human), poor health and health facilities, attitudes (e.g. over reliance on government or foreign aid for development, cultural inherited superstitions...), the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Recognizing all these setbacks and knowing that the Government alone cannot solve the multifaceted challenges ofGhana, we realised that a window of opportunity for private sector involvement in the quest for development would assist individuals, Communities, Government and developing partners to implement their programs. These premises, and our desire to influence and improve people’s everyday lives, were the starting points of our organisation.

Our dream is to improve existing services, expand them into several communities, and initiate innovative services to meet those needs regarding Forestation, Community Services (Health and Education) and Information and Communication Technologies.
